✨ Morning Pages journaling from The Artist’s Way
Not gonna lie, The Artist’s Way, and the morning pages in particular, have changed and shaped my life in a huge way over the past couple years. I went from not journaling consistently, and not even allowing myself to write anything unless it was “perfect” on a page, to writing and scribbling illegibly all the nonsense that runs through my beautiful adhd brain at any given moment. The morning pages give me a container to dump out everything that’s in there in a judgement-free way.
When I first started, I did morning pages in the exact prescribed method in the book (3 pages) while I did the program, then over the years I have experimented & shaped them into a daily practice that works for me. Which looks like setting a 20 minute timer and free writing on un-lined paper until it goes off. Then I tear up the paper & put it in the recycling or compost. Anything notable that I want to save to reference later, I write it in my bound journal.
Since some times, journaling can bring up negative thoughts/emotions or really tough stuff, I like to end with an uplifting/supportive meditation.
Here’s to feeling more well-resourced, nourished, and supported heading into the new month.
Let me know which practices and resources resonate with you! 🖤✨
